 Meet the farmer
Produced in small batches by a female-led organic tea farm in Taiwan’s scenic Sun Moon Lake region, Red Jade with Bergamot (Organic) is the true form of Earl Grey at its finest. Whole leaf Red Jade black tea is layered with hand-shredded bergamot strips, producing a bold tea with deep notes of baked fruit and a powerful citrus aroma that energises, uplifts and clears the sinuses.
If you like Earl Grey, you’ll love this tea. ‘Standard’ Earl Grey tea is usually made of CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) black tea from China or India mixed with bergamot oil, and brewed with a slice of lemon.
Our version is uniquely Taiwanese; made with Taiwan’s famous Red Jade black tea, loved for its fruity flavour and cooling mint sensation. Instead of simply adding bergamot oil, the tea leaves are layered with hand-shredded strips of bergamot and left to rest for time to do its magic. The result is a bold, citrusy black tea that needs no extra lemon.
Red Jade with Bergamot (Organic) is produced exclusively for us by Katie Yen’s organic tea farm in Yuchi Village Taiwan. The bergamot was grown initially as part of a permaculture experiment to ward off insects on the edges of the tea fields. It now serves as both a natural pesticide and a valuable ingredient in a truly exceptional tea.Â
