Gold Peony, or Jin Mu Dan 金牡丹, is a relatively new rock tea cultivar created from two oolong varietals: Tieyuanyin 鐵觀音 and Huangjingui 黃金桂. The result is a highly aromatic and floral flavor profile.
This rock tea is made from leaves harvested from Han Cui Yan 涵翠巖, one of the famous 99 cliffs in Wuyishan. The tea features a medium oxidation and was charcoal roasted using lychee wood for 33 hours.
Incredibly fragrance-forward, the aroma is multi-layered with a blend of floral and fruity notes. The liquor features a bright amber color, and coats the palate with a soft syrupy sweetness.
