TEAWITH Kettle

Regular price HK$1,980
Shipping calculated at checkout.

Winner of the Japanese Good Design Award and the German Red Dot Design Award, this black electric tea kettle (汀壺) is the result of a crowdfunding campaign by a group of Beijing designers.

Highly functional with a smooth pour, comfortable grip and a sleek appearance, it boils quickly and quietly so as not to distract from the tea experience. When pouring, it is easy to control the water stream, so you can adapt the strength of flow for all types of tea and brewing vessels.

It is also very simple to turn on - just push down from the handle on top!

Statement from the Red Dot Design Awards Jury:

"The clear design of the TEAWITH Kettle conveys a strong sense of peace and relaxation. This well-proportioned kettle actively encourages users to prepare a cup of tea and enjoy it while reading a book. Its matte black surface is pleasing to the touch and perfectly suited for long-term use. The shapely, pleasantly high-grip handle with integrated switch is functional and ergonomically sophisticated."

Note:

  • These kettles are fitted with the 3-pronged plug, suitable for Hong Kong homes.
  • These kettles are for boiling water only, do not put tea or milk directly in the kettle.

How to Calibrate the TEAWITH Kettle in My First-Time Use, or in High-altitude Areas?

Variances in altitude and environment may occasionally disrupt the kettle's natural rhythm, resulting in over-boiling and splashing, continuous heating, or a premature shut-off before a true boil is reached. Should you encounter these slight nuances, the TEAWITH Kettle’s unique 'Learning Mode' allows you to gently recalibrate the vessel, restoring its performance to an optimal, graceful state.

The Calibration:

  1. Gently pour 200mL of water into the kettle, then disconnect it from the power source for a brief rest of 10 seconds. Remove the lid during the calibration.
  2. Reconnect the power and immediately press down on the handle for 5 seconds to initiate the sequence.
  3. Observe the indicator light; once it transitions from a gentle pulse to a steady, continuous glow, you may release the handle.
  4. When the light fades away completely, the calibration is beautifully complete.
  5. You may now fill the kettle up to its 550mL capacity for your daily use.

A Gentle Reminder: To ensure a flawless and quiet boil during your tea rituals, please be mindful not to overfill or underfill the vessel beyond its recommended capacity.

How to Clean the TEAWITH Kettle Safely and Maintain Its Quality

A Guide to Care & Maintenance

To preserve the enduring grace and performance of your TEAWITH Kettle, we recommend the following rituals of care:

  • Gentle Cleansing: Before tending to your kettle, kindly disconnect it from the power source. Wipe the exterior gently with a soft cotton cloth and pure water.
  • Protection: To safeguard its intricate mechanics, take great care to prevent moisture from entering the internal circuitry, the cord, the plug, or the heating base during your cleansing ritual.
  • Rest and Storage: Should your TEAWITH Kettle be resting for an extended period, simply unplug it, cleanse both the vessel and its base, and store it in a cool, dry sanctuary.

Care & Cleaning

  • Daily Cleaning: Unplug before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Keep water away from the base, plug, and internal electronics.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Never use steel wool or harsh chemical cleaners.
  • Storage: If not in use for a long time, unplug, clean, and store in a cool, dry place.

Descaling (Every 2–3 Months)

  • Method 1 (Vinegar): Add 550mL of water and a splash of 8% white vinegar. Soak for 1 hour, then rinse thoroughly until the smell is gone.
  • Method 2 (Citric Acid): Add 550mL of water and 25g of citric acid. Soak for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

First Use & Safety

  • Preparation: Before your first use, boil a full kettle of water, discard it, and rinse the interior.
  • Water Only: Only use the kettle to boil water. Do not heat other liquids or ingredients.
  • Caution: The kettle body, spout, lid, and steam get extremely hot. Do not touch them during or immediately after boiling.
  • Capacity: Always fill the kettle with the proper amount of water (up to 550mL) to prevent splashing or uneven boiling.
