This tea is a mixture of aged Gong Mei white tea and Xinui Chenpi 陳皮 (dried and aged tangerine peel), rolled into tight 'dragon balls' for convenience.

For hundreds of years, tangerine peel has been dried and aged for use in Chinese cooking and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is believed to regulate qi, fortify the spleen, eliminate dampness, improve digestion and soothe sore throats.

It is made by drying tangerine peel in the sun before storing it away to age anywhere from a few months to 70 years. The longer it is aged, the more prized it is.

Our Gong Mei white tea (貢眉) has been aged 4-5 years already and will continue to age the longer you keep it, becoming sweeter and mellower over time. The fruitiness from the tangerine peel complements the honey chocolate notes of the white tea perfectly, creating a warming, nourishing tea for winter.

Gongfu style (Gaiwan)
1 ball | per 100ml | 95-100°C | 1 min
+10s per steep for at least 5 steeps

Western style (Teapot)
1 ball | per 300ml | 100°C | 3 mins
+ 1 min per steep for at least 3 steeps

As a balled tea, Tangerine Unity needs a bit of heat to loosen up and unfurl. You can ‘rinse the tea’ with boiling water (throwing out the first infusion) to help it open faster.

These are just guidelines. As we always say, it’s best to experiment with a range of temperatures and leaf-to-water ratios to understand the tea and your own taste preferences.
