Keemun Curls is the highest grade of black tea from the Qimen mountains of Anhui province, China. Hand-rolled over a charcoal fire to produce its curly shape, this rich black tea is malty and slightly smoky with the sweet undertones of longan and red date, and the nutty aroma of walnuts.
Traditionally used to blend English Breakfast teas, Keemun (祁門) tea is often considered to be the representative of black teas in China. It is loved for its incredible aroma and its complex, chocolatey flavour.
This tea is harvested in spring as one delicate bud and one small leaf, and goes through intensely laborious processing to achieve the coveted flavour and aromatic notes.
The Zhuye Zhong cultivar used for Keemun Curls contains a unique essential oil known for its calming effects that together with the tea’s innate caffeine and theanine, leaves you feeling clear-headed and calm.
