A rare wild black tea from a purple-tinted varietal indigenous to Yunnan, with a distinctive mulberry flavour. Harvested from trees in forests at 1,600-3,000m altitude, this tea is unlike most other black teas: there is no astringency, only a smooth, delicate texture. The purple tint comes from anthocyanidin, an antioxidant found commonly in blueberries.
The purple buds plant has long been a popular beverage among the Palaung people in Yunnan and Burma.
