Gushu Sundried Black Tea|古樹曬紅

 Tasting notes: Malty, fruity, raisins
 Origin: Lincang, Yunnan, China
Cultivar: 雲南大葉 Yunnan Da Ye (Big Leaf)

 Elevation: 2000m
 Oxidation: ⦿⦿⦿⦿⦿

A gorgeous tea with a surprising depth of flavour, Gushu Sundried Black Tea is made from the first spring harvest of 200-year-old assamica trees in Xiaohusai Village, Lincang, Yunnan. Dried under the sun, this tea tastes of succulent fruit and raisins, with virtually no bitterness.

Sun-drying the tea (instead of oven-baking it) allows it to continue oxidising, ageing and changing flavour over time.

We love how the fruity flavour of this tea lasts for so many infusions. It’s a great ‘wow’ tea to serve to people whose main reference for black tea is English Breakfast teabags, as it shows how diverse the world of black tea really is.

Gongfu style (Gaiwan)

Western style (Teapot)

+1 min per steep for at least 2 steeps

Cold brew
10g | 1L | Room temp/ refrigerated | 6 hours

While black tea is often brewed with boiling water, we find that the complex fruity notes of Gushu Sundried Black Tea are enhanced with slightly cooler temperatures.

These are just guidelines. As we always say, it’s best to experiment with a range of temperatures and leaf-to-water ratios to understand the tea and your own taste preferences.
