Wild Tea Buds Red | 野生芽苞紅茶 Tasting notes: Plum, fruit jam, red wine
 Origin: Lincang, Yunnan, China
 Cultivar: Wild
 Elevation: 1500-3600
 Oxidation: ⦿⦿⦿⦿○
This tea is similar to our Wild Purple Tea Buds, except that it is oxidised to become a black tea.
These curious-looking buds (芽苞) appear to be the buds of offshoot branches, rather than tea leaves. They are harvested only once a year in spring from wild tea trees (300 to 500 years old) and are in limited supply, due to the unpredictable yield of wild trees.
They are processed like a Yunnan-style black tea (滇紅): withered, shaped, oxidised and sundried. As they are firmer than tea leaves, they are harder to fully oxidise, so you may notice hints of green on the leaves. We love the fruity flavour and long-lasting aftertaste of this tea!
Try it with other teas from our wild tea collection.
