This rock tea from Wuyishan is lighter than other famous rock teas like Da Hong Pao. it exhibits a complex aroma with flavour notes of fruits, nuts, and honey, and smooth mouthfeel.

Why we love it:

• It's name! Legend has it that a monk dreamt of a bird dropping a gemstone on Wuyishan’s Three Flower Peak (三花峰), and the next day found this tea cultivar at the exact site he foresaw. Why "monster"? Some say it's because of it's bewitching aroma! (It also goes by the names Half Sky Mountainside (半天腰) or Half Sky Bird (半天鹞).)
• It one of the four most famous Wuyi Rock Tea cultivars - Iron Buddha (鐵羅漢), Baijiguan (白雞冠), Shuijingui (水金龜), 半天妖 (Half Sky Monster)
• This tea is made from a 25-year-old tree on Hancuiyan (涵翠岩).
• It is roasted with lychee wood charcoal, which adds another interesting layer to its flavour.
