teaLETTER: Darjeeling Travel Itinerary
How to get there: Cathay Dragon flies from HK to Kolkata. From Kolkata fly to Bagdogra airport, which is one hour away. From Bagdogra airport the easiest and the best option is to take a pre-paid reserved taxi for Darjeeling. Or if you’re staying at Glenburn, they will arrange a private pick up service for you!
Stay: Glenburn, which is set right on the tea estate. Think colonial style bungalows, giant four poster beds and “bed tea” - Darjeeling tea in bed brought to you by your personal butler!
Eat: There is a little hole in the wall momo shop behind the main square frequented by Tibetan monks. It is not for the faint-hearted, but the momos are to die for.
Do: Take the toy train, one of the last remaining steam locomotives around. The train rattles and chuffs through the streets of Darjeeling as it shares its right-of-way with the main road. At times your carriage passes so close to the houses and shops that you could reach out and touch them.
